DAZN Details U.S. Regional Sports Expansion
Global streaming platform DAZN hosted a media event at Manhattan's Lavan Chelsea to outline its strategy for regional sports coverage ahead of the NBA and NHL seasons. Over the past six months, the London-based company has acquired local streaming rights for 19 professional teams across MLB, the NBA, NHL, and WNBA. The roster includes smaller-market franchises like the Memphis Grizzlies and Indiana Pacers, as well as high-profile teams like the New York Yankees, San Antonio Spurs, and the defending NBA champion New York Knicks through a streaming agreement with the Gotham Sports partnership involving YES Network and MSG Networks. Pricing, Platform Features, and Technology
DAZN offers fans the choice of standalone single-team subscriptions or add-ons to a broader DAZN membership. For example, a Cleveland Cavaliers subscription is priced at $19.99 per month or $119.99 annually for a standard membership, and $24.99 per month or $139.99 for an ultimate tier that provides additional viewing feeds, ticket promotions, and merchandise discounts. The platform utilizes streaming technology from ViewLift, which DAZN acquired alongside its purchase of commercial distributor EverPass Media. Within the platform, dedicated team hubs feature live games, replays, rosters, standings, and original content such as podcasts. Additional features include a spoiler button for game highlights and "Fan Zone," a second-screen community tool with trivia, polls, and live chat. [1] [2]
Long-Term Goals and the NBA Local Streaming Hub
Backed by billionaire Len Blavatnik through Access Industries, DAZN is actively targeting additional media rights and has expressed interest in partnering on the NBA's centralized streaming destination slated for the 2027-28 season. DAZN's current team agreements feature long-term terms with opt-outs that allow teams to join the league's upcoming aggregated hub if they choose. DAZN growth markets CEO Pete Oliver stated that the company is in active talks with multiple teams and leagues, expecting to expand its roster of clubs ahead of the next baseball season following the recent collapse of regional sports network operator Main Street Sports Group.
