Noah Kahan Reflects on Mental Health and Fourth Album Success

From TikTok Breakthrough to Global Stardom

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Noah Kahan reflected on his rapid rise to fame during a recent appearance on CBS News Sunday Morning. Kahan recalled posting a partial clip of his song Stick Season on TikTok in 2020 while living in Vermont, admitting he initially suffered from insecurity and deleted similar videos if they underperformed. Instead of being removed, the track sparked widespread covers and propelled the 29-year-old artist into multi-platinum success and sold-out stadium tours. [1] [2]

Tackling Mental Health and Reaching Milestones

Kahan spoke with correspondent Luke Burbank about his struggles with mental health, including anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia, which were also highlighted in the Netflix documentary Noah Kahan: Out of Body. The artist discussed how a teenage encounter with court-ordered counseling led to the term busyhead, which inspired both his outlook and The Busyhead Project. At a recent fundraiser in Vermont, Kahan announced that his nonprofit has raised over $13 million to expand mental health access for individuals who cannot otherwise afford care. [1]

A Chart-Topping Fourth Album and Looking Forward

Nearly four years after his breakout success, Kahan released his fourth album, The Great Divide, in April. Despite initial anxieties about following up his previous work, every track on the new record debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, ultimately surpassing the chart performance of Stick Season. Looking ahead, Kahan expressed an intention to embrace personal joy and contentment as he plans his next chapter. [1] [2]
