Mexican Singer Lucero Recalls Past Romance With Felipe Camiroaga

A Brief Romance Rooted in the 1992 Viña del Mar Festival

Mexican singer Lucero recently opened up about a brief romance she shared with Chilean television presenter Felipe Camiroaga in the early 1990s. Speaking on Rodner Figueroa's podcast Cara a Cara con Rodner, Lucero recalled that they met during the summer of 1992 when both served as members of the jury at the Viña del Mar Festival, where she was also crowned Reina de Viña at age 22. Describing Camiroaga as a remarkably handsome and kind television host, she noted that although their time together was short, they genuinely fell in love and spent evenings walking along the beaches in Reñaca and Viña del Mar. Career Demands Led to a Mutual Parting

Despite maintaining contact through subsequent travels between Chile and Mexico, the two ultimately decided against pursuing an official relationship. Lucero recounted a conversation at Camiroaga's property where they concluded that neither was willing to sacrifice their respective careers, making a long-term romance unfeasible. Reflecting years later on Camiroaga's death at age 44 in a September 2, 2011, plane crash in the Juan Fernández archipelago, Lucero pondered how different life might have been had their paths aligned differently, while acknowledging that some relationships are simply not meant to last.
