Belarusian state propaganda has initiated a campaign preparing society for the possibility of stripping citizenship from individuals who fled the country for political reasons, according to a report published on October 5, 2026. [1]
While the country's Constitution explicitly prohibits stripping citizens of their nationality, the Law On Citizenship now permits the measure. Lawyer Ales Mikhalevich spoke with Belsat to examine how this citizenship revocation threatens political emigrants abroad. [1]
