Saint Louis Tops Nebraska 79-74 in Men’s Basketball Exhibition

Saint Louis Rallies Past Nebraska in Exhibition Opener

True freshman Jacob Lanier scored a game-high 15 points for Nebraska, but Saint Louis shot 50 percent in the second half to secure a 79-74 victory in front of a crowd of over 14,000 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Lanier hit a 3-pointer at the first-half buzzer to give the Huskers a 39-37 halftime lead, and Cale Jacobsen extended the advantage to 44-39 early in the second half. However, the Billikens responded with an 8-0 run, featuring six points from Amari McCottry, to claim a 47-44 lead with under 16 minutes remaining and stayed ahead for the rest of the night. [1] [2]

Top Performers and Next Steps for the Huskers

McCottry and Kellen Thames each scored 11 points for Saint Louis, which shot 44 percent overall and hit 12-of-35 from beyond the arc. For Nebraska, Jacobsen finished with 10 points and seven rebounds in 25 minutes, while Leo Curtis added nine points and six rebounds. Head coach Fred Hoiberg utilized 13 players in the rotation to evaluate younger roster pieces. The Huskers will continue their exhibition schedule next Friday with an 8 p.m. CT matchup against BYU, broadcast on the Huskers Radio Network and ESPN+. [1]
