The Edmonton Oilers acquired forward Filip Hallander from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Spencer Stastney. Both NHL teams announced the transaction. Stastney, 26, made Edmonton's opening-night roster for the 2026-27 campaign but has not appeared in a game this season. During the 2025-26 season—his first with Edmonton after being acquired from the Nashville Predators—Stastney scored one goal across 36 games with a minus-10 rating while averaging 16:02 of ice time. He is signed to a one-year, $1.525 million deal. Meanwhile, Hallander has registered two goals and five assists over 18 career NHL games. Originally selected by Pittsburgh in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Hallander previously played in the SHL with Timrå IK, where he tallied 40 goals and 89 points in 102 games. [1] [2]
